Christmas Eve - The Big Birthday Dinner!

If you haven't heard it enough, my son turns 21 on Christmas. Do you have a child that has turned 21? Tips? Mother is struggling with this one. It's like I am pushing him out of an airplane. He has a parachute. He is prepared. I'm just not ready to push him out. He has lived on his own since he was 19. He goes to work everyday. He is responsible. He has a good heart. He is really so far out of the nest, but something about this feels different.

We always do birthday dinner, and fortunately restaurants are open here. He won't be able to have a drink tomorrow night (a day early), but I don't want to have that celebration with him anyway. I am happy to do the big dinner. He picked a restaurant that is absurdly fancy, which is funny to me, but he'll only turn 21 once. He could have asked for anything. Instead of a cake, he asked me today for donuts from a place 90 minutes from where I live. If he would have told me this 2 days ago, I would have made the drive. I offered to send him to Vegas with my dad and nephew, he said no. So big birthday dinner it is.
