Rant

For those of you that have been around a minute, you know my son had a little situation last year with a warrant and a cunty female. He turned himself in on the warrant and handled all of his court stuff, but he is on reporting probation for a while.

His PO clearly hasn't read his file and ordered him to 6 months of domestic violence counseling. I came unglued. His case has nothing to do with DV or any violent crime. He has no record of any type beyond this one single issue.

He asked her why he was being made to do this, because it made zero sense. She told him that it was a precautionary measure because 80% of the population will either be the victim of, or the aggressor in a DV situation.

IDK about you, but that is some fucking bullshit if I ever heard it. It is a numbers game. It is quotas. It is prejudicial recidivism. I live in a city where police are no longer arresting non violent offenders...which is a whole other issue to me. My son was a non violent offender and he turned himself in on the warrant to get ahead of it. Who knew the police would stop caring. He didn't even really commit a crime, this girl did, but boys and girls do stupid shit together and he thought she loved him. Whatever. He's paying for it.

I was fuming the other day about this. My response was, is she going to make you go to rehab next, just in case you might have addiction issues.

I told a friend, I just really want to believe that a probation officer is a person who wants to do good in the world. I want to believe that they wake up in the morning and hope they can change lives for the better every day. But that is delusional. That would probably be like 10%, if that. Having my son go to 6 months of DV counseling, IMO, is nothing more than his PO being able to use him to check off a box. I cannot support that.

My son will do the classes because he isn't stupid. The PO has too much control, which is also ridiculous, and he knows it, but Christ on a cracker what is this world coming to?

You can literally murder someone in this city and bond out 60 seconds after your arraignment, but you can't turn yourself in, do everything you are asked and just be left alone.
